Past Events

Presentation Dinner Dance – Although everyone felt it was a good night, members did comment on the price of the drinks being a bit expensive. The general feeling was that it previous presentation nights had been better. MW said that as everyone had enjoyed the Gosforth Park Hotel last year it has been provisionally booked for 2008 as it was not available for 2007. If members preferred this could be confirmed as a definite booking, this was felt to be a better venue and MW said she would get in touch and formally confirm we would like this venue for 2008.

A.O.B.

  • Website – I. Huitson has came up with a logo and asked members their opinions, members like the idea of a logo and some of the designs Iain came up with, he will revamp a new logo using ideas from the members and present it at the next meeting. It was suggested we try to omit uninvited adverts from the website, it will cost approximately £2.50 per year to do this and Iain was asked to put this into practise after members voted in favour of this. Suggestions regarding buying a domain name so it is easier to find the forum were put forward. We need to keep it for two years and at a costing of £2.79 per year to do this, Iain has also been given the go ahead to organise this, again after members voted in favour, and it will be monitored how many hits we are getting through the domain name and decide then whether we feel we want to keep it, at the price it is, members felt it’s worth trying for the two years. Iain hopes to have the new website up and running in the next tow weeks.

  • DW asked members for any ideas for the 2008 season to promote the sport and an enthusiastic discussion took place. Extra advertising for events funded by the Championship was suggested and DW explained that finances in the club belong to the members and if they wanted to set a budget for advertising we can organise that. The Championship will organise two posters which can be printed off and competitors can display in their cars, shop windows etc. one will advertise all event dates in the calendar and the other will advertise each event as it occurs an is easily adaptable for IH.

  • Defra – are cutting back on certain regulations with regards to the 28 day rule, (DW explained the 28 day rule for those members who didn’t know what it meant). Cross compliance regulations are still enforced which is detrimental to Motorsport.
